Hayley Lewis is one of Australia's most celebrated sporting figures - a world champion swimmer turned television presenter, entrepreneur, author, and mental health advocate. She shot to fame at just 15, winning five gold medals at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. A year later, she became one of Australia's youngest ever World Champions with victory in the 200m freestyle at the 1991 World Championships. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Hayley claimed silver and bronze, continuing her success at major events including the Pan Pacific Championships, 1994 Commonwealth Games, 1995 Worlds, and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. After a short break, she returned to make the 2000 Olympic team and became the first Australian to represent the country in both pool and open water at a single world championships. She retired in 2001 with a bronze medal from Fukuoka. Beyond the pool, Hayley has thrived as a media personality and businesswoman. She hosted five seasons of The Biggest Loser Australia, published her book Dream, Believe, Create, and opened her homewares store Coming Up Roses, which has become a fixture in Brisbane. As Queensland's Mental Health Ambassador, she champions workplace wellbeing and helped launch Australia's first legally enforceable mental health code in 2023. She is also the proud mum of two sons - Jacob and Kai. In 2023, Kai won gold at the World Aquatics Championships, making them the first mother-son duo to represent Australia as Dolphins. From teen prodigy to Olympian, presenter, entrepreneur, and advocate Hayley's story is one of resilience, reinvention, and lifelong impact.
